Researcher for international research cooperation in the social sciences
(Salary group 13 TV-L, working time up to 100 %, limited until 30.09.2028)
 

The department „Survey Data Curation“ processes and prepares social science research data across a diverse range of data types to support sociological and political science research, especially in comparative perspectives across space and time. The curated data include long-running national (e.g., ALLBUS, GLES) and international (e.g., ISSP, CSES) survey programs, which are documented and curated to the highest quality standards, but also research data products derived from or connected to these surveys, such as geo referencing services or trend files. The EU Horizon project “Strengthening Democratic Resilience Through Digital Twins” (TWIN4DEM) simulates the development of four democracies (France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Hungary) and predicts the risk of an expansion of executive power. The “Integrated Research Infrastructure Services for Climate Change Risks” (IRISCC) project is creating a “one-stop shop” for data to study climate change adaptation and links natural science data with social science data.

Your tasks will be:

  • Leading the TWIN4DEM work package on the integration of survey, election, and socioeconomic data
  • Contributing to the “TWIN4DEM open and FAIR toolbox”
  • Linking IRISCC services with GESIS offerings
  • Interdisciplinary coordination and networking with project partners and stakeholders
  • Dissemination of project results through publications and conference presentations

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in political science, sociology, or a related field
  • Strong interest in quantitative research on democracy and climate change policy
  • Advanced knowledge of survey and spatial data management, as well as data analysis using the R software
  • Experience in communicating and collaborating within large research consortia is a plus
  • Very good English skills
